one quick note

Sorry for the lack of posts lately — Bar/Bri (or as it’s more affectionately known, The Summer Ruiner) is currently taking over my life.

I was at the Cubs game yesterday (okay, maybe not taking over my whole life) to witness the Cubbies’ third straight one-run victory, and all I could hear about is how the Lovable Losers are going to this year’s World Series.

Calm down, Cubs fans. There are still four more months left in the season. Yea yea, I’ll admit, your offense is stacked. Hell, your pitching ace Carlos Zambrano would probably earn a spot in the White Sox hitting lineup over everyone except Quentin, Dye, and Pierzynski. The reason I point this out is because the Cubs have played a whopping 34 home games compared to only 23 away games. Their respective home/away records? 26-8 and 10-13. The first-place White Sox, by comparison, have played only 22 of their 56 games at The Cell, where their record is 13-9.

The Cubs have only 10 home games (out of 27 total games) in June. So, if your Cubs continue their pace throughout this month, then you can properly start chatter of a potential World Series birth (even though the “best” teams will still falter if they’re not hot come October).

But until then, the only crap you can talk is how your ball boy should be pinch hitting for Paul Konerko.

  1. [...] Only a few things to report for this holiday-shortened weekly recap. First, and certainly most, the White Sox avenged their beatdown at the hands of the Cubs by sweeping the north-siders this past weekend. It’s a good thing, too, because Sox fans (namely me) would not have settled for anything less than 2 wins at the Cell. Instead, we got three to pull even in the 2008 City Series. Now, the Sox have won 6 in a row after their thrilling win last night over the Indians, and the Cubs are reeling from actually having to play their games away from Wrigley (see previous post). [...]
